Hi!

Ich habe ein Problem.

ein Linux PC --- switch ---- XP PC

auf dem Linux PC läuft ein ftp-server.

wenn ich jetzt ne grosse datei (ca. 500 MB) über den Ftp kopiere, sieht das so aus:

Links das "normale" ist, wenn ich vom XP-PC auf den Linux-PC kopiere.

Rechts das "komische" ist, wenn ich von Linux auf den XP-PC kopiere.

woran liegt das?

erstmal die schwankungen, und die Auslastung. von XP-<Linux sind das 90%, von Linux-->XP grade mal um die 60!

Plz Help me!

hab jez mal kurz nen echten samba server - 2.2.8 installiert.

da siehts ähnlich aus, von xp -> Linux geht ca. 20 % schneller

aber:

insgesamt liegen die transferraten jetzt maximal bei 60-70%

von linux->windows sogar unter 50% !

ich kenne das von LAN's her....wenn ich sauge dann geht dies Super ohne grosse Performanceeinbussen, auch bei 10+MB/s.
Saugen hingegen die andern von mir wird das System so grottenlahm dass man nimmer wirklich was machen kann.
Browser starten dauert dann locker 10 Sek und das bei 2.6Ghz und 1GB Ram.
NIC's habe ich übrigens schon mehrere probiert, unter anderem auch einen Intel pro100 ServerAdapter.
k.A. woher das genau kommt...

sind die via-treiber schon dabei??

hab mal unter via.com geguckt, da sind keine treiber für SuSE 9.0

das letzte ist 8.1/8.2

hdparm macht sowas:

Das kann schlicht und einfach an deinem Ethernet-Kabel liegen, dass eben nicht alle Adern dieselbe Dämpfung/Übertragungsqualität aufweisen. Probier's mal mit einem Kabeltester (wenn du die Chance dazu hast).

Edit: Die höhere CPU-Last erklärt sich auch durch die höhere Geschwindigkeit (Qualität) von XP nach Linux.
Dürften die TX-Adern (Linux-Seitig) sein, die nicht so gut sind.

jo, das kenn ich auch noch von alten lans!

aber was mich stutzig macht, das in eine richtung der transfer zu fast 100 % steht, in die andere richtung aber nur knapp über 50%

dann dürfte ja eigentlich beides nicht allzu hoch sein!

der Unterschied von fast 50% ärgert mich dabei!

das muss doch auch mit fast 100% in die andere Richtung gehen!

Mir scheint's als würden sich die "MTU" und/oder "Frame Window Size" auf der XP-Kiste nicht mit denen der Linux-Kiste vertragen.

Was sagt denn DRTCP (http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp) unter XP?
