London, (April 30th 2004) - Free Monkey Interactive, a non-profit group consisting of talented members of the Unreal community has announced its intention to bring Expanded Multiplayer (XMP) action to Unreal Tournament 2004 in the form of a total conversion.
With the blessing of former Legend Entertainment employees responsible for developing Unreal II: Expanded Multiplayer, Free Monkey Interactive has commenced development of Unreal Tournament: Expanded Multiplayer (UT XMP), a total conversion for Unreal Tournament 2004.
Free Monkey Interactive consists of a group of dedicated members of the community who have been involved with the Unreal Engine and Unreal series of games for many years. Although UT XMP is the team’s first project under the Free Monkey name, many of the group have already worked together on previous ventures such as the popular Unreal II XMP Community Bonus Pack.
“Unreal II’s Expanded Multiplayer add-on was a great multiplayer experience which sadly had its life cut short by the closure of Legend Entertainment,” said Erik Cederman, Lead Designer at Free Monkey Interactive. “We would hate to see XMP become a ‘forgotten classic’, and so that’s why we are working to combine our own original assets with top-notch XMP gameplay and the speed and style of Unreal Tournament 2004.”
Unreal Tournament: Expanded Multiplayer will offer intense class-based vehicular action in a range of stunning alien worlds, where players must manage energy reserves to power their war machines and battle for the control of four mysterious artifacts. UT XMP players will be given control over a vast array of all-new fearsome weapons, as well as mines, turrets and other deadly automated defenses.
Owners of Unreal Tournament 2004 will be able to download Unreal Tournament: Expanded Multiplayer for free this summer!
