hey guys, just thought i would let you all know how to fix this little problem. those of you that were speculating that it had something to do with the language settings where correct. apparently you have to force you copy of windows into using the USA english.
the steps i took to resolve this issue are as follows:
1-change the language version to US english(through the control pannel, language and regional settings)
2-uninstall the ATI drivers through the add/remove panel in the control panel.
3-restart into safemode and use drivercleaner (obtained from www.driverheaven.net) and remove everything to do with ati
4-restart and boot into xp. install the 4.7 drivers with control panel.
5-reboot and play. the TAA settings should be under the '3d' tab under display settings.
