Hi,
"In my opinion YOOPER bans too many people. Somebody say:"xyz is tk'ing me", and he bans him for 999 seconds. He banned 5-7 guys in 1 minute last night (I think it was last night, maybe the night before), I don't think all of them deserved that. And he is one of the guys who doesn't play anymore, he is only specing and searching a reason to ban somebody, that's my opinion."
Eine kleine Kritik und schon stürzten sich alle Admins auf mich. X-D Und wenn er das hier zurückpostet und meine mittelmäßigen Englischkenntnisse auch noch schamlos ausnutzt, fühl ich mich gepwned:
I'm not sure I can even type fast enough to ban "5-7 guys in 1 minute"!! Your statement is entirely false. I invite you to procure any kind of evidence that would even lend a shred of credibility to your untruthful claims.
I do not ban anyone unless *I* see the infraction myself. If I get a complaint that xyz is tk'ing, then I spec xyz and watch for the evidence. Now, if I see that xyz accidentally clips a teammate, or blows them up with an ill-tossed grenade, the player will get a PM from me warning them to be more careful. It is done this way so as to not publicly embarrass the offending player. On the other hand, if I am speccing and see that it is blatantly obvious that xyz is there only to cause trouble by blocking or tk'ing, then they'll get a 999 right away.
The admins are committed to helping the amateur player who accidentally tk's from time to time (not to ban them without warning!). We've all seen those who have not had much practice aiming that panzer or the flamethrower. In these cases, I PM something along the lines of "Be more careful!! You're killing your teammates! Teamkilling is not allowed!!" Sometimes, their score gets too low and Punkbuster takes care of them. Other times, I see that the player really does make a valiant effort to "play by the rules" and tries to aim a little better. After all, they're there on the server to have fun and play a game just like the rest of us.
When PM warnings don't seem to work, it is common to move offensive players to the spectator team before a temporary ban is considered. Many (newer) players don't always pay attention to (or even see) the chat and PM warnings. When they suddenly find themselves on the spectator team, it has been my experience that they pay more attention to the words on their screen. Only then do they realize that they were doing something wrong. If, after rejoining, they continue their offensive behavior, a 999 second ban is usually issued, along with a statement of their infraction.
Contrary to your belief, the admins are not on the server "just looking to ban someone". We are there to ensure fun and fair gameplay for all who logon. And yes, that includes you.
As far as your claims that I am "...one of the guys who doesn't play anymore, he is only specing and searching a reason to ban...", I once again invite you to show evidence of each and every time I am on the server, with it broken down by how many minutes I spend in spectator mode, minutes on Allied, and minutes on Axis. You might be surprised and I suspect you'd have little choice but to retract your erroneous statement.
I must, however, point out that there are times that I am the only admin on the server. As such, it is common to be bombarded with PM's from players complaining about other players. As the admin, it is my responsibility to follow up on each complaint! I do not prejudge, and I give each complaint equal merit. Now imagine only five complaints to investigate...on a server that often has 50+ players connected. Can you not see how that may take a fair amount of time in spectator mode?
I suspect that if I didn't follow-up on each complaint, that you would be posting another message here on the forums spewing about how Yooper is a poor admin because he never bans anyone, even though he gets complaints about tk'ers all the time... <sigh> But, in your defense, I don't want to be overly presumptuous.
Perhaps this message can shed some light for those of you, who apparently don't fully understand the roles and responsibilities that us administrators voluntarily take upon ourselves.
Good Day,
Dr. Yooper
Jemand ne Idee zum Zurückpwned? :freak: Das stellt meinen Ruf völlig ins schlechte Licht auf dem Server. >__<
