keine Verbinfung zu MySql Datenbank

habe auf einem Debianrechner MySql installiert, lokal kann ich auch problemlos zugreifen

aber wenn ich auf einem anderen Rechner (XP) den MyODBC Treiber installieren will bekomme ich keine Verbindung
Fehlermeldung: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'xxx' (10061)

hat da jemand einen schlauen Rat für mich?

ps: Nutzer ist angelegt:
grant all privileges on *.* to nutzer@'%' identified by 'geheim' with grant option;

@mods: könnte einer die Überschrift korrigieren ?

Läuft vielleicht auf dem Debian-Rechner eine Firewall, die Verbindungen zu dem verwendeten Port nicht durchlässt?

Alternativ könnte es auch einfach daran liegen:

The problem was being caused by a single line in the my.cnf file.

bind-address=127.0.0.1

For anyone out there - with a fresh install - and cannot connect to mysql from anywhere but 'localhost' - remove that line if you want to bypass the extra security.
