hi all,
I have just upgraded my computer at home with some decent hardware and experiencing some strange behaviour with warcraft 3 running in open gl mode. At first I have to tell you guys that I dont have ANY other issues with my computer except Warcraft3. Now to the problem:

when I run warcraft 3 TFT I only get 64-65 fps per second. Im getting this information from fraps (it displays the fps in th etop left corner) and even without fraps I can realize that it runs much slower than on my old machine where I had arround 90-100 fps. Short checklist here at this point:
- vertical vsync = off;
- monitor refresh rate = 100hz @ 1024x768, 32 bit.
- I even changed my rams and graphic card to see if this has any impact on the performance.

I upgraded to a new Athlon 64 system which of course comes with a state of the art motherbord (I say state of the art because it comes with a bunch of new technologies for power saving which come into play later). Someone might say 65 fps is enough for this kind of game, but in deed it is about control and accuracy with your mouse which increases with higher fps rate. Its just the feeling, at 65 fps it feels slow and crappy ;(

Anyway after surfing the web and checking out stuff I found a solution which is not really what I want. I had to turn off a bios feature called "ACPI APIC SUPPORT" which basically turns my modern computer into a old machine MAKING features like COOL 'n QUIET (thats one reason why I upgraded) and POWER SAVING in gerneral USELESS. By doing this I loose around 5-10% of my initial performance just to play Warcraft 3 as I had it before the upgrade.

So what I can conclude of all this is a "possible" bug in the way wc3 is programmed in terms of 3D hardware usage. A friend of mine has the same problem but a complete different but also new system. It has definitely something to do with this IRQ Sharing and stuff which "ACPI APIC SUPPORT" is responsible for.

So once again I want to point out that my machine and the machine of my friend are totally cool and fast except in Warcraft 3. I wanted to have more that 65fps, thats why I changed my entire system environment. But I dont want this. At least I wanted to have you asked about this know issue.

Do you have any suggestions what can be done to solve this problem, because I urgently want to switch back to a "Power Saving Capable"- Computer.

Es funzt jetzt aber OHNE Cool'n Quiet Funktionalität, hier der Beweis:

Ich will aber CnQ zurück und WC3 auch ordentlich gamen können.

My system:

RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB RAM

Thanking in advance

PS: I have a only the latest drivers installed. Its all just about this APIC Mode whatever $!@%.
