Sony's next move, maybe in late 2005, but more likely in 2006, will be the Playstation 3. Just this week, Sony said it will work with graphics chipmaker Nvidia (nasdaq: NVDA - news - people ) on an advanced Graphics Processing Unit chip. In addition to that, Sony is jointly developing a new chip called the Cell Processor under tight secrecy with IBM (nyse: IBM - news - people ) and Toshiba. Little is known about the chip, but Sony is starting to talk about it just a bit.
