Folk Music – historic: Walther von der Vogelweide / modern: Florian Silbereisen, Hansi Hinterseer, Stefanie Hertel
In former times, folk music was not only played a lot, many people also danced and sang to those songs in chorus (which were everywhere in Germany), in little groups or even alone.
In the last few years there was a changing in the german folk music. The songs got faster and more happily. They run on Radio and TV now. You don’t sing very much to this music any more, but the fast melody makes the people dance. In beer tents or on big parties is often played the modern folk music, which is even liked by many young people. Normally folk music is more for older people, especially the historic folk music. But in this case the youths often like this music.
Hard Rock / Metal – Rammstein, Scorpions, Die Ärzte, Die toten Hosen, Böhse Onkelz, Blind Guardian
In Hard Rock or Metal there are usually playing electro-guitars, keyboards and drums. The voices often sound deep and agressive. In the Hard Rock and Metal scene there are many different style directions.
Many german Hard Rock and Metal bands sing their songs in English (ex. Scorpions) which was standard for this genre in Germany 20 years ago.
Some new bands which also are called Hard Rock or Metal bands are more to the pop music than to Hard Rock or Metal.
Previous Hard Rock and Metal fans often wore black clothes and had long hair. But today there are only a few people left with this outfit. Today Hard Rock and Metal fans often wear tour-shirts of their favorite band(s).
