well, alcohol XOR self-control... heheh... if you look back, the evenings when you lost your self-control seem to have been the best ones.

<kidding>if your're in a restaurant, don't forget to order a bloody steak!</kidding>

have fun in england,

Hehehehe. Actually, I had a lovely (medium) steak at Gee's in Oxford for my birthday dinner. It rocked so hard I had tears in my eyes when I realised I won't have the chance to eat there again for far too many months to come. :(

Oh, and I'm sort-of back. Meaning that, yes, I'm back in Switzerland but, no, I won't be in front of my computer very often since I'm seeing Haarmann and Andre during the next two days . . .

cheers,
.rb

Happy Birthday!

And if you'd whish your tears - äh, wipe your tears away, you might see the sign pointing to RyanAir (http://www.ryanair.com); they might offer you a ticket that a perfect steak (aka THE STEAK) would be worth it. But don't forget a camp-chair; standing the whole flight wouldn't be very comfortable.

Now that you're back from England, you should enjoy the "confuse-friends-and-family-by-speaking-english-to-them"-game. It's very funny.

It's very funny.Already did it to some extend yesterday night--Andre is in Switzerland, staying at Haarmann's, and I phoned them up yesterday night. Was fun, because the conversation went like this:

1) couldn't speak one word of German. At all. Haarmann at least understood some of my babbling.

2) Andre was another story entirely. No English skills for this bloke. Hence, I tried to speak some German, which resulted in many funny creations the German language has never been graced with before (may I say "wie long wirst Du staien?", and later to some very accented but at least fluent high German.

I think I confused the two no end. But everything was fine today, even if I still had to concentrate like mad to get somewhat sensible German sentences out. ;)

Cheers,
.rb

It doesn't need a week in Oxford to loose all german skills. A bottle of Applegrain ( ;-) ) does the job, too. A friend of mine proofed it at new year's eve some years ago.

Does Andre have no english skills at all or does he just apparently have none?

Another of my friends, studying in the Netherlands, lectures in english, learning dutch and teaching german to some russians (base language english), once said in a conversation: "Hab 'ne geile neue Sígnatur - ah, Signatúr, man merkt, ich spreche kaum noch deutsch...."

btw, some years ago, when I was in my last year at school (ok, ages ago), I destroyed the last pieces of my english skills by creating "The real fate of Atlantis - A really not nonexisting hero-epos". English for awaystepped from finest. Would be a very suitable thing to confuse Andre and Haarmann some more.

Greets,
Marcel

Oh I think André has some kind of the same problem that I have. I can read englisch and understand as like as any single word but I can´t speak it and I can´t write it. Not really, but nearby.

Spoken englisch is not easy for me, because I hasn´t any practice in it. The best one are the lucky stiff from Texas, I hate them because they can´t life without her chewing gum - pimple face resident of the states.

BTW: Can somebody tell me why I typing englisch and not german here, naja, egal.

You're typing english here because of humans are cooker animals - äh, they always follow the crowd.

But I have to admit that I also have problems with understanding spoken english; especially when it's coming from movies and the other side of the ocean. But when I flew to Lanzarote, they showed a movie, and I had the option to switch between english and german at any time. There I discovered that the sound quality of the german synchronisation was by far better. So my problems are not only caused by my lack of skills or practice, but also by the noise.
Excuses are a great invention.:D

Excuses ARE a great invention. Even better invention, mind: credit cards. ;) Just got the bill, and it's VERY reasonable--sometimes, it's good to live in Switzerland because you can appreciate how inexpensive England is in comparison, if you really get down to it.

Well, ok, the £45 for make-up might have been a tad over the top, but eh. Was worth it, for the show alone. :D
