iCore - virtual machine in der man zocken kann?

Äh ja, bin durch Langeweile drüber gestolpert:

Noch nie was von denen gehört, kein FAQ zur Technik gefunden etc., also die übliche Frage, schon mal jemand ausprobiert, gerade was zocken 3D Games anbelangt?

Ich mein wäre ja durchaus interessant, aber allein schon die Technik, ist das nun eine VM, oder doch eher sowas wie Sandboxie, oder Altiris SVS, also Containerbasierende Abschottung (wobei ich das auch noch nie mit einem Spiel probiert habe, bezüglich Kopierschutz und Ring 0 Treibern)?

iCore vs other VM
iCore is OS-level virtualization. It's runs on top of existing hardware and operating system.
Typical VM(like VMware) virtualizes the hardware.
Thanks to OS-level virtualization iCore is more fast. iCore fully utilizes hardware. That's why you can play modern games on the iCore Virtual Computer.
But iCore virtualizes only Windows XP on Windows XP.

iCore vs Sandbox
Typical Sandbox technology product works on on interceptions.
iCore clones Windows Registry, kernel objects and so on...

Sandbox create permanent virtual environment. But it returns system without useful and useless changes with rebooting a computer.

iCore allows you to create many Virtual computer for work, for games, for Internet browsing...
And switching between them, delete,create VM.
Virtual Computer do not affect performance, privacy, security or anything else on other Computers.

iCore vs Altiris SVS.
Altiris is application virtualization(isolates application from others).

WTF? Refererauswertung oder was? Was hab ich da los getreten, ehrlich das wollt ich nicht...

@looking glass: Was erhoffst du dir davon? Irgendwie macht das ganze nur Sinn, wenn man 1 Computer hat und mehrere Nutzer ihn für verschiedene Aufgaben nutzen.

Relativ simpel und einfach, man kann sich dadurch ein System aufbauen, das durch stetiges ausprobieren neuer Software nicht vermüllt (ohne das man auf zurückspielen eines sauberen Images angewiesen ist) und weiterhin könnte man so sich "nicht liebhabende" Software unsichtbar voneinander auf dem gleichen System betreiben (Stichwort hier Kopierschutz mag mein Nero nicht).

Gerade letzteres wäre vielleicht ganz sinnvoll, also das man den Kopierschutz einkapseln kann, er läuft normal, das Spiel läuft auf meinem System, aber er versaut mir nicht mein System, Punkbuster fängt nicht an zu meckern, nur weil ich einen Debugger auf dem System installiert habe etc..

Die Frage ist bloß, wie diese Software funktioniert, wen ich eh für ein Systemwechsel neu booten müsste, bringt das natürlich nichts, dann kann ich auch gleich Dualboot fahren, wen ich aber aus meinem, einem System heraus wechseln kann, könnte man sich ein System erstellen zum ausprobieren von Software und für Alpha und Betatests, ein System zum zocken und das Originalsystem zum arbeiten.

Warum wird denn nur XP unterstützt und nicht Vista? Mit ner ordentlichen 64Bit Unterstützung würde es mehr Sinn machen...

Da steht was von OS-Kernel-Ebene. Das sieht Microsoft gar nicht gerne, und daher klappt es wohl mit Vista nicht.
