Enermax MODU87+ 700 W can really deliver its labeled wattage at high temperatures.

Efficiency was always very high, around 90% when we pulled between 20% and 40% from the unit’s maximum labeled capacity (i.e. between 140 W and 280 W). At 60% load (420 W) efficiency was still extremely high at 89.1%, dropping to 87.8% at 80% load (560 W) and to 86.1% at 100% load (700 W).

In theory this unit would need to present 87% efficiency at full load in order to qualify for the 80 Plus Gold certification, but keep in mind that this organization tests power supplies at a room temperature of 25º C while we test units between 45º C and 50º C and the higher the temperature, the lower efficiency is.

Voltages were always inside the allowed range.

Noise and ripple levels were another highlight from this product, being always low. Below you can see these levels with the power supply delivering 705 W (test five). The maximum allowed is 120 mV for the +12 V output and 50 mV for the +5 V and +3.3 V outputs. All numbers are peak-to-peak figures.

When we tried to pull more than 700 W from this unit it would shut down. This was probably due to some sort of limitation from our equipment, since a friend of ours could pull up to 1,000 W from this unit.

[...]

Enermax MODU87+ 700 W is a terrific power supply, achieving very high efficiency between 86% and 90.5%. Voltages were always inside the required range with low noise and ripple. The protections are clearly active. And the cable configuration is perfect for a 700 W product. For the user looking for “the best” 700 W unit around and price isn’t a concern, the new Enermax MODU87+ 700 W is certainly the best pick.

Well, you can color me impressed right now, but use the dull crayons. I have sensitive skin. This unit not only still kept its Gold certification in the hot box, it actually did a bit better efficiency than it did cold, almost across the board. Wow!

That said, it did something else it didn't do cold - start the 3.3V at an even higher voltage. It's still in spec, not to worry, but it's getting high enough to pass the 4% mark there. The 5V rail also shared in the trend, though it never really made a move at the high end of the spec.

The real pleasant surprise is over on the 12V rail. It must have heard me talking about it, because it's just a wee hair away from that 1% number I covet so much. Very nice. And all this while fighting off 46 degree ambient temperatures, too. Enermax can be proud of these results, I think.

[...]

Performance (40% of the final score) - the Modu87+ does what it does pretty well. It holds reasonably stable voltages, it is extremely efficient, it keeps ripple and noise to about half the ATX spec or lower, and it is very resistant to heat. That said, it is not the best performing unit I've ever seen. Except for the efficiency, there is room for improvement on just about everything here from voltage regulation to turn on spike suppression. With this in mind, I'll give the unit an 8.5 for performance.

Functionality (20% of the final score) - a fan that stays spinning after shutdown. Modular cables that combine SATA and Molex connectors on some of the cables. Enough PCI-E 6+2 pin connectors to run two video cards. A little retention clip for the AC power cord. Can't really complain about anything here. 10.

Dieses DC to DC - Transformator-dingens ^^

Kurz-Review aus dem HardwareLuxx mit 93% Effizienz-Bestätigung:

http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/showpost.php?p=13792872&postcount=105
