Hello, first of all sorry for not speaking German. But i have to go here because you guys are kick-a$$ when it comes to Supersampling, unlike most americans they dont care much for SSAA, but i love it and use it when i can. And i hope some of you know a bit of English :)

Anyway here's the deal: I have the nVidia SSAA Tool and it doesn't work. I've tried it in Bad company 2 also Metro 2033 but i get no SSAA. I do force regular MSAA in the control panel first, but that is not helping either.

Does this tool work in Metro and BC2? Can anyone confirm this?

Hilfe!

I have the Geforce GTX 295 and I run Win7 64bit. And i Run Drivers: 257.21

Ps, I use this tool because nHancer does not work with the new forceware drivers (forceware 25x.xx series)

The SSAA-Tool will only works in DX9-games with youre GTX 295. You need an GTX 4XX-card for SGSSAA in DX10/11-games. But an GTX 480 isn't powerfull enough for using SSAA in Metro ;)

PS: Sorry for my bad english :freak: :D

But even if i run them in DX9 it doesn't work anyway. Tried dx9 metro and dx9 crysis but no SSAA. AM i supposed to put the SSAA tool .exe somewhere? It's just an alone .exe file on my desktop, no install files.

You have to enable MSAA inside the game, if this is not possible you will not get SSAA.

Or inside the driver ;)

I tried to enable 4xMSAA but that's only for dx10 in Metro. And for Crysis, i did add 2xMSAA and ran in dx9 but no SSAA. I have used SSAA in Crysis before but then via nHancer, worked fine. This SSAA tool from nvidia doesn't seem to be working AT ALL :(

Is there any way to get SSAA in Metro on non-Fermi cards so to say? Does this tool even work for you guys? Someone post a screen?

Also what about Bc2? I never got SSAA working more than the ToMMTi-Systems tool but it gave me a blurry screen, but the SSAA was pretty half-bad.

The number of SSAA-samples has to be lower or even to the number of the MSAA-samples.

2xMSAA goes with 2xSGSSAAA
4xMSAA goes with 4xSGSSAA and 2xSGSSAA
8xMSAA goes with 8x,4x and 2xSGSSAA

Thx bro, Just tried that in Crysis and youre right. I put AA to 8x and also did 8XSSAA and it worked!...

Now, i only wish i could get it working in Metro, but as MSAA is only available in dx10 i guess its impossible then? Becuz this tool only work in dx9 on Geforce 200 series?

But what about Bad company 2?

Are you running BC2 @ DX9 or @ DX10?
If you run it @ DX10 this could be the reason.

As i understand it, BC2 suffers the same problem as metro does here. It only allows MSAA in dx10 mode. And the SSAA tool requires both dx9 and MSAA set within the game to make it work... Right? SO this means no SSAA in either metro or BC2 for me -_-

Then what? I either need a radeon 5xxx series card or a Fermi to get SSAA in Metro and BC2? No other way?

Only with "Fermi" works SGSAA under DX10/11. With HD5XX0-cards it don`t work.

I heard some ppl got SSAA in BC2 using the 5 series. So apparently radeon's R/SG-SSAA do work under dx10/11...

Radeon SGSSAA is dx9 only, maybe they run bc2 @ dx9.
You can run bc2 with dx9 or dx10.

If you want SGSSAA with dx9, dx10 and dx11 you have to go with Fermi/GTX 4xxx.

Ok if you say so.

Anyway i saw some differences with the SSAA tool in crysis. According to me the old Ordered grid system using nHancer both performed and looked better than the Sgssaa that the SSAA tool utilizes. Like, the 3x3 SSAA looked better than 8xSGSSAA. Also the performance was horrible, but then 3x3SSAA also was horrible in performance.

But for me, OGSSAA and nHancer is better than Rotate and sparse -grid... Looks alot better.

Fermis SGSSAA lacks of texture LOD shift. And this is the reason, why OGSSAA looks better to you. The main advantage of SGSSAA is the better sample distribution: Polygonedges look a lot better with 4xSGSSAA than w 4xOGSSAA: 4xOGSSAA has a 2x2 EER which lead to only 1 interstage at polygon edges. 4xSGSSAA has a 4x4 EER which lead to 3 interstages at polygon edges. But if the IHV doesn't adjust the texture LOD the whole image will look blurry. On the other hand if the IHV does the LOD shift right, SGSSAA is far the best AA Mode: I think, if you look at HD5xxx SGSSAA you will like it. Alas it works only with DX9 games. DX10/11 Specs don't allow the change the texture LOD and moreover, ATis has no SGSSAA solution for DX10/11 at all.
