System Shock 2 & Win2k

Heute ist mein System Shock 2 angekommen... nur ein Problem habe ich: Es lässt sich unter Windows 2000 nicht installieren. Da kommt dann eine Fehlermeldung, dass sich das Spiel aufgrund einer Einschränkung von DX6.1 nicht auf NT Systemen installieren lässt ;(
Hat jemand von euch System Shock 2 unter Windows 2000 zum laufen gebracht und falls ja, wie?

Wo kann man den heute noch Ss2 kaufen? Meine offiziell und keine Ebei Adresse.

Funktioniert bei mir nicht. Der bringt dann einen Programmfehler mit supidoller Erstellung eines Fehlerprotokolls. Geht die Sache noch irgentwie anders?

System Shock II kann man jetzt kostenlos downloaden (ich meine nicht per Esel). Allerdings sind da keine Filmsequenzen dabei wie z.B das Intro

Nanu ? Da gab's doch mal einen Thread darüber. Da hat jemand behauptet es gäbe Shock 2 jetzt zum Download. Ich kann den Thread aber beim besten Willen nicht mehr finden. Wurde der wieder gelöscht ? Da ich System Shock 2 selber schon lange besitze bin ich dem damals nicht nachgegangen.

wollte SS2 damals auch unter win2k zocken, dazu braucht man aber den aktuellsten patch..dann gehts ohne probs..

Mit einem kleinen Eingriff in die Registry kann man das Problem scheinbar umgehen.

Hier das ganze nochmal schriftlich:

Ok scheint nach dem sp3 nicht merh zu gehn,mit einfach nur der parameter angeben.
Lösung was bei mir geholfen hat: das hier ausführen "regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll" dann sollte es einen compatibiltymodus bei den verknüfungen geben, dort einfach win98 auswählen, dann noch den parameter angeben, und fröhlich ohne fehler meldung installieren. patch drüber und freuen das das spiel läuft.

Edit: Manchmal liegt die Lösung so nah. Man muss nur die Suchfunktion etwas malträtieren ;)

hab den link jetzt zwar net angeschaut, aber hier ist die anleitung, welche ich vorher nicht zur hand hatte...



1)To install System Shock 2 on your Windows 2000 system, you will need to run the following command (from a DOS window or
using the Run Program command): Setup -lgntforce also you need
the patch from http://www.lglass.com/cs/shkpatch.exe
to fix the incompatibility with the SafeDisk copy protection and
the OS.
2) Fails to work under Matrox G200 cards due to driver bug.
(Even after patch.) Game installs fine, but exits out with a
black screen and then an error message from SS2 -- "YOUR
VIDEO HARDWARE IS NOT SUPPORTED BY SYSTEM SHOCK 2"

3) I tried the sugguestions noted but the game hangs once I get into a mission. No clue if its 2000 related, or hardware related. Have dual 800 PIII's, 128 rdram, geforce2 gts, sb x-gamer, both with latest drivers.
4) If you have dual CPUs, you need to start the game, then set the affinity to only one CPU in task manager. With affinity set to both CPUs, SS2 will crash.
5) If installed using "setup.exe -lgntforce" (no quote marks) and the patch is installed then it should work fine.

8) The game and the patches installed normally.
On some of the menu screens, the mouse pointer "freezes" on the screen, but is actually still moving... you just can't see it. If you listen for the sounds that the pointer makes when it passes over a hover button, you can switch to the desktop and then switch back to the game to get a new snapshot and hopefully be close to the button you need.
I am fairly certain this issue is caused by my video card driver.

Erst THX euch allen! Leider krieg ich jetzt ne neue Fehlermeldung. Beim Starten kommt "YOUR
VIDEO HARDWARE IS NOT SUPPORTED BY SYSTEM SHOCK 2" *grml*. Ich hab ne GF4 TI 4200 drinnen und benutze die 4345 Treiber.
