Aquamark3 kommt (mit Teaser-Link)

hatte ich gerade in meiner Mailbox:New Technical document released!

On Monday, 23rd of June 2003 Massive Development published the second document full of information about the forthcoming benchmark AquaMark3. This issue goes deep into technical information and reveals a lot of the special features unique to the AquaMark3.

In the document you will learn about some of the innovative new features of AquaMark3:

- The 'AquaMark3 Overdraw Visualisation Technique' (OVIST)
- The 'AquaMark3 Shader Visualisation Technique' (SVIST)
- The 'AquaMark3 Pixel Perfomance Measurment' (PIXPM)
- The 'AquaMark3 Tri Score System' (TRISCORE)
- The 'AquaMark3 Automated Test Technique' (AUTT)

None of these features are currently available in any professional benchmark!

Die in dem PDF geschilderten Vorhaben klingen ja schon mal ziemlich vielversprechend.

Mal gucken ob der Bench in der Praxis hält, was er verspricht und vorallem ob man ihn auch als Normaluser auf legalem Wege bekommen kann.

Ich habe irgendwo gelesen, das es 2 Versionen geben soll.
Genau wie beim 3DMark.

Sie haben sogar einen ORB, gleich genannt wie bei Futuremark . . . hmm. Gut oder schlecht?

Jedenfalls klingen die Features interessant. Man darf gespannt sein.

Nein, denn so wie jedes synthetische Programm wird es wahrscheinlich "umgecheatet"...

Die Gefahr besteht natürlich, aber als synthetisch würd ich Aquamark nicht bezeichnen. Immerhin wird die Engine auch für Games verwendet (z.B. Spellforce (http://spellforce.jowood.de/index2.php?lang=en))

Wenn der Aquamark 3 keine zufaelligen Szenen generiert bzw. die Hersteler dauernde "Erweiterungen" bzw. andere Szenarien nach schieben, sehe ich keine zukunft für den bench.

Wenn es in Zukunft wirklich drauf hinausläuft, dass die Shader vor der Ausführung optimiert werden (wie glaub ich Demirug mal gesagt hat), dürfte er doch wieder brauchbar sein. Natürlich nur sofern es wirklich allgemein anwendbare Shaderoptimierungen sind und nicht benchspezifische.

Der Aquamark3 wird für jeden frei erhältlich sein. Ob es zwei Versionen gibt weis ich aber nicht.

Steht in der PCGH 07/03 auf Seite 13.
Es soll eine Freeware und eine Kaufversion geben.

Diesmal ist es anders!reiner spielebench!fordert gottseidank einmal das ganze sys und nicht so wie andere nur graka oder cpu!da wird es darauf ankommen wie jeder sein e mühle konfiguriert hat.für low-end karten wird es dann eng.nicht so wie beim 2001er test wo einer mit einer ti 4200 17000 punkte holen kann.gesamtperformance ist dann gefragt.und verlinken kann mann dann auch den test.meine infos belaufen sich auch nur was ich bis jetzt gelesen hab.ist aber sicher nicht schlecht futuremark ein wenig konkurenz zu machen.

DirectX 9?

AquaMark3 is a DirectX 9 benchmark. But since its originated in a real game engine it has fallbacks to DirectX 8 and even DirectX 7. So even if you own an old DirectX 7 graphic board you're still able to use AquaMark3!

Download size?

The download of AquaMark3 will have a size of around 60 megs due to strict size optimization. So even if you have just an ISDN connection downloading the Reality Benchmark is possible for you - no need to download insane 177MB!
