Ist zwar nicht mal die Ankündigung einer Ankündigung (man kann ihm live beim Coden zusehen, eigenwillige Idee ;D), aber trotzdem scheint es, als würde es nicht mehr allzulange dauern.

Und intern wird wohl auch schon der Mail Client genutzt (da gibt es eine spezielle, Soprano genannte, Snapshot Variante für Insider). Ab und zu sieht man auch mal Hinweise auf den Mail Client in Bildern vom Interface. Dauert zwar alles etwas länger als erhofft und die Prioritäten der Entwickler decken sich nicht immer mit meinen, aber trotzdem mag ich den Browser :smile:

Screenshots vom Email-Programm existieren schon seit sicher zwei Jahren, die "Insider" wie Mods testen das auch schon lange. Würde das nicht als "kommt bald" einordnen ^^

Ich hoffe der Sync wird mit dem von Firefox mithalten und zB auch visited Links syncen können.

Hab sync (in der Vergangenheit) nie genutzt - bzw war es nicht gut meinen "privaten" Browserverlauf auf der Arbeit zu haben *hust

Was mich derzeit am meisten nervt:
- Mausgeste "open new Tab" öffnet links von geschlossenen Webseiten
- Videos bleiben (teilweise) nach ein paar Sekunden stehen
- Mausgeste "New Tab" auf dem SpeedDial/Tableiste macht "rechte Maustaste"-Menü auf und fokussiert nicht auf die Adresszeile

Ansonsten bin ich aber kein Poweruser.. viele Tabs, viel Mausgesten, VisualTabs an der Seite, uBlock Origin..

Das ist auch nur eine entpackbare setup.exe, ich meine mich zu erinnern dass sogar die App selbst einfach nur gepackt vor lag. Aber egal mit der Installationsmethode "Install Standalone" kann das gleiche erzielt werden.

Question: What will be the things that can be synced through the first stable release of sync?
Answer: Currently, this is the data that will be synced at launch: Bookmarks, Passwords, Preferences (from the Chromium code, but not Vivaldi specific preferences), Autofill, Typed URLs, Extensions, Apps, Notes and Tabs. Some of these might not be fully functioning at launch, but we aim to have everything fully working as soon as possible and we will bring more data to sync as we add features that can benefit from it.

Question: Will there be options to choose hosting provider or will it all go through Vivaldi based servers?
Answer: Initially there will be no choice and Sync will go through Vivaldi based servers. All your data will be encrypted by the browser on your side before being sent to our server, so that we cannot read it. For later releases, the idea is to allow users to run their own Vivaldi Sync server. There are already many pieces in place for that to happen but there are also a number of technical challenges and we want to make sure that our server code works well before we release it, so we can’t give you a time as to when this will happen.

Es ist echt ein Trauerspiel, dass Webkit beim Farbmanagement immernoch so hinterherhinkt. Der Bug ist jetzt 11 Jahre alt, und keiner hält es für nötig mit Firefox gleichzuziehen. Benutzen die alle 50 EUR Monitore, dass das denen nicht auffällt? Wie soll man da im Web einkaufen, wenn die Farben ständig falsch sind?

Nervt euch eigentlich das Chromium-Verhalten, dass durch das Ziehen der Scrollbar über die Lesezeichenleiste hinaus die Scrollbar einfach zurück springt?
Was für ein UI-Autist denkt sich bitte so etwas aus?
Macht es ja erst ab einem gewissen Abstand, darum find ich es nicht so schlimm. Muss aber sagen, dass ich die sowieso fast nie benutze und sie bei Opera sogar ausgeblendet hatte. Entweder ich drehe das Mausrad oder benutze die Autoscroll-Ext. Damit kann ich das Mausrad gedrückt halten und muss dann nur noch die Maus hoch oder runter bewegen um super schnell zu scrollen.

Ich benutz so eine Mischung aus allem (auch Pos 1/Ende). Besonders, weil mich bei Chromium die Mischung aus Trägheit und Hyperaktivität beim automatischen Bildlauf stört.

Ich gehe davon aus, das ist nicht nur bei Vivaldi so ist sondern an Chromium liegt!?

Rechts/links springt, wie bei anderer Software sonst auch, zum nächsten/vorherigen Wort.Richtig aber bei anderer Software springt das auch hinter das letzte Wort eines Abschnitts. Bei Vivaldi aber vor das erste Wort des nächsten Abschnitts.

Witzig: Wenn ich mit der Linux-Version unter vivaldi://flags GPU rasterization einschalte, zeigt der automatische Bildlauf z.B. auf foxchannel.de so gut wie überhaupt keine Einbrüche, im Gegensatz zur Windows-Version.
Langsam drängt sich mir der Eindruck auf, dass DirectX für Browser-Beschleunigung der letzte Müll ist.

The fixes are back! With minor Reader Mode and Installer improvements.

After a long hiatus of more than a week, we are back with a new snapshot.

The Reader Mode fixes include saving Reader Mode setting changes between sessions, as well as updating all pages upon any settings being changed.
Update Notifier and standalone installs have also undergone a few improvements.

Man kann schon coole Sachen mit Vivaldi machen, vor allem was das Design angeht:

Schade dass vieles Elementare immer noch so schlecht gelöst ist.

Der Tabstrip ist ohne Mindestbreite für Tabs so unbrauchbar wie bei jedem Chromiumbrowser, AutoComplete ist seit jeher völlig kaputt (in Chrome und Firefox navigiere ich zu 99% über die URL-Bar und bekomme dort per AutoComplete was ich brauche, in Vivaldi bekomme ich irgendwelchen Unterseitenmist mit 200 Zeichen präsentiert), 60fps bei Youtube droppt Frames - Empfehlung im Forum: Animationen abschalten :ugly:

Zeigt nur mal wieder wie schwer wirklich gute Browser sind, selbst wenn man Chromium nimmt. Bin ja mal auf die Androidversion gespannt, befürchte irgendwie nichts Gutes...

Der Termin für alle Vivaldi Features und weitere Versionen ist momentan "when it's done" :mad:;D

Aber Sync hatten sie ja kürzlich ihre live programming session, und haben da auch schon eniges zu erläutert, dürfte also noch dieses Jahr was werden ;)

Was Android angeht habe ich das Gefühl, dass dauert noch mindestens 1-2 Jahre, ist aber nicht durch irgendwelche Aussagen seitens Vivaldi belegt sondern wie gesagt nur ein Gefühl. Wobei es natürlich sein kann, dass da jetzt langsam genug Performance in den HighEnd Modellen ist um das schon früher praktikabel zu machen.

Final for 1.11 is getting close and we are out with our first release candidate. We continue our focus on fixing as many bugs as possible that have regressed since 1.10.

All of you who still haven’t migrated to the new snapshots post 1.10 or have an old profile should no longer have any issues with URLs being ignored by the search engine migration or incorrect order in the search drop down list.

Tab switching with scroll has had its directions switched back to normal, plus another regression fix for those who like to open the settings through a URL. More info below.

We’d be very happy if you could let us know of any regressions that you feel need to be addressed before the final 1.11. Keep them coming and we’ll try and get them ironed out.

Gitb es hier noch jemanden, der Vivaldi mit einer anderen Suchmaschine als Google nutzt?

Ich persönlich nutze als Standard Suchmaschine DuckDuckGo, habe auch Yahoo, Bing und Google komplett aus der Suchmaschinenliste entfernt.

Trotzdem kommt ab und an beim aufrufen einer Seite/beim aufrufen eines Suchbegriffs kurz (ein paar Frames) die Google Startseite (oder zumindest eine Seite mit großem Google Schriftzug) zum Vorschein. Ist Google da so tief im Chromium drin verankert, oder was ist das?
Ich nutze Vivaldi noch nicht primär, aber ebenfalls die Standard Suchmaschine DuckDuckGo. Konnte das noch nicht beobachten.
Und um mal die wichtigen Themen anzusprechen: Das neue Icon musste echt nicht sein. Ich will kein Hipster Browser haben.

Hallo;

ich probiere gerade den Vivaldi aus (wieder mal).

Da ich mit google keine Antwort gefunden habe:
kann man das horizontale Menü anpassen?

Ich hätte gerne die Lesezeichen im horizontalen Menü und nicht nur als Panel, da dass doch sehr viel Platz wegnimmt und für mich ein wenig unübersichtlich ist. Vor allem schließt sich das Panel nicht von selbst wenn man ein Lesezeichen angeklickt hat.

edit:
wie kann ich die Schnellwahl anpassen? Ich hätte gerne 6 Vorschaubilder in einer Reihe und nicht nur 5. Die Einstellung Spalten habe ich bereits auf 12 gesetzt, aber das hat leider keine Auswirkung.

Ach ja, loben muss ich die Entwickler aber doch. Der Lesezeichen-Import geht jetzt problemlos. Damit hatte ich ja früher massive Probleme. Und insgesamt läuft der Browser auf meinem alten Notebook bisher problemlos und mit guter Performance (wesentlich besser als der FF54).

Wie kann der erste Snapshot einer neuen Version aus Bug- und Regressionfixes bestehen? Das wäre doch eher was für die jetzige Hauptversion und der Snapshot würde neue Features mit neuen Bugs einführen. Ich verstehe diese Entwicklungsphilosophie nicht :crazy:
Die Hauptversion kann ja auch bugs haben, die man mit dem Snapshot dann behebt. ;)
Und Features brauchen in der Regel länger als Bugfixes, daher dauert das, bis diese auftauchen.

wie kann ich die Schnellwahl anpassen? Ich hätte gerne 6 Vorschaubilder in einer Reihe und nicht nur 5. Die Einstellung Spalten habe ich bereits auf 12 gesetzt, aber das hat leider keine Auswirkung.

nein, eigentlich will ich die Lesezeichen so wie im Firefox haben. Mit der Lesezeichenleiste konnte ich noch nie was anfangen, egal welcher Browser. Die Lesezeichenleiste nimmt IMHO nur zusätzlich Platz weg.

Ich habe die Lesezeichenleiste jetzt doch aktiviert und so angepasst, dass sie wie das Bookmark-Menü beim Firefox funktioniert. Die Leiste nimmt zwar Platz weg, aber wesentlich weniger als das Panel. Für mich passt das jetzt.

Edit:
braucht man beim Vivaldi eigentlich Addons wie ScriptSafe (Noscript für Chrome) oder ist bei Chrome/Vivaldi Javascript sicherer?
ScriptSafe ist ein wenig komisch in der Bedienung (IMHO), gibt es eine gute Alternative?

Ich öffne sie eigentlich nur bei Bedarf (Notizen), meistens ist sie entweder geschlossen oder gar nicht zu sehen. Mal schauen wie das wird wenn der Mailclient kommt.

Das automatische öffnen des Download Panels kann man in den Settings abstellen.

IMHO Ja, du musst nur einen Ordner oder ein Lesezeichen erstellen und in den Lesezeichen "ganz nach oben ins Rootverzeichnis" schieben.

Our Twitter feed is full of great feedback. Case in point, earlier this week @Runewake2 flagged up that YouTube’s latest logo update results in a pretty aggressive accent color in Vivaldi.

This got the design team chatting about possible solutions. What we’ve landed on is a new slider setting that allows users to adjust the maximum allowed saturation level of accent colors; giving a way to tone down the extremes across the board. Here’s a quick video of the new setting in action:

Was soll man dazu noch sagen außer dass Google eben zerschlagen gehört. Eben auch mal wieder ein treffender Beweis dafür, wie offen Chromium wirklich ist. Man kann es schon nehmen, aber ob es dann so funktioniert wie beabsichtigt, dabei ist man komplett von Google abhängig. Da ist es schon grotesk wenn immer wieder darauf verwiesen wird, dass man doch nur ein konkurrenzfähiges Produkt entwickeln müsse, dann werde Google schon lieb nach den Regeln spielen ;D
Google interessiert nur eine Sache: Geld verdienen und Daten sammeln. Wenn du dem im Weg bist oder jemandem bei Google deine Nase nicht gefällt, hast du Pech gehabt. Und da du ohne Google keine Geschäfte im Internet machen kannst, bist du dann eben weg vom Fenster.

Würde das aber einfach mal mit einem zweiten Browser (am besten nicht chromiumbasiert/Firefox) austesten. Gut möglich, dass der Steam Client da einfach mehr beim Steam Farbschema bleibt als der Steam Webstore, Du hier also möglicherweise einen Äpfel <-> Birnen Vergleich am Start hast.

Je nach Website/Hintergrund? leuchtet es rot, gelb etc.. das brauche ich nicht. Kann man irgendwie das Farbenspiel unterbinden? Und wie oeffnet man mehrere websiten auf einmal? (Wheelscroll Click geht nicht, auch rechts-click funzt net).

Unter Themes kann man einfach das gewählte Theme editieren, da gibt es dann die Möglichket "Accent Color from Active Page" abzuwählen. Etwas versteckt, aber ohne großen Aufwand möglich.

Was meinst Du mit mehrere Seiten auf einmal öffnen?

Edit: @DanMan einen Post weiter unten: Der in Steam eingebaute Browser nutzt doch auch Webkit, oder?

Bei mir sind die Farben zwischen Vivaldi 1.12 und IE11 exakt identisch.

Die Sättigung der Accentfarbe habe ich auf 80% eingestellt, das macht Seiten wie z.B. www.chatvongesternnacht.de leichter erträglich.

Just hard-work news. Chromium is making changes that force Vivaldi to completely re-write a major part of its structure. While the end result will be code simplification and perhaps some marginal performance improvements, I fear there will be no breathtaking change in user experience. I don't know if there will be a splashy announcement or just a sigh of relief with the release, but it's gonna for sure be a ton of fairly thankless work. Personally (though I'm no psychic) I'm expecting a user response somewhere in the range of "hey - well at least it's not broken." Sorry to be the bearer of pessimistic tidings

Hätte man mit Firefox vermutlich auch, und Presto wurde ja nicht rausgerückt von Opera so wie ich das verstanden habe. Und hätte wohl auch einiges an Aktualisierungsarbeit benötigt.

Und eine eignene Rendering Engine ist wohl doch nicht so ganz ohne.

Jedenfalls schade zu erfahren, dass die lange Pause nicht wegen eines großen Feature Updates und damit vermutlich Vivaldi 2.0 zustande kam/kommt...

In Vivaldi habe ich das Problem, dass weiße oder schwarze Schriften in YouTube-Videos "zittern" bzw. die Kanten flimmern. Vollbild oder nicht ändert nichts aber deaktivieren der Hardwarebeschleunigung in vivaldi://flags behebt das Problem. Im IE11 oder wenn ich das Video runterlade und im MPC-HC anschaue ist alles okay. Hat das noch jemand? :confused:
Habe eine GTX 550 Ti @ Win7 x64. Ein kürzliches Update des 3 Jahre alter Grafiktreibers :redface: hat nichts geändert.

Warum sind die Changelogs fast immer zu einem großen Teil von Regressions bevölkert?

Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass das gefixte Regressionen sind. Aber ja, Vivaldi regressiert viel. Die letzten Snapshots und auch finalen Versionen waren ja auch eher Bugfixes als das da wirklich neue Features eingebaut wurden.

Vermutlich arbeiten die stark an Version 2.0 und konzentrieren sich für 1.x eher auf Stabilität, Chromium Updates (da gab es ja kürzlich einen relativ großen Re-Write wegen einer neuen Chromium Version) und eben Regressionen (zum guten Teil auch Chromiumbedingt schätze ich). Sortierbare Download Listen sind ja nett, würde ich aber nicht wirklich als großes Feature Update zählen :smile:

Edit: OK, das mit den eingebauten Bilddetails war ein schönes neues Feature...

Weil Vivaldi scheinbar mehr damit zu tun hat, ihren Programmaufsatz über die Chromiumänderungen gestülpt zu bekommen, als Vivaldi selbst weiterzuentwickeln.

In Version 1.13 hat man fast ausschließlich das Window Handling für Chromium neu geschrieben.

In der Import-Funktion taucht *Firefox absolut nicht auf.
Würde gerne alle Bookmarks/Einstellungen u. natürlich PW importieren! So gesehen in v1.12 und auch bei v1.13

*Firefox 57 und vorher 56.0.2 ist/war installiert und taucht auch auf in den Programmen und ist mein Standard-Browser.

Ist das jetzt nur bei mir so?

Was mich z.Zt. nervt ist, dass sich neue Fenster ihre vorherige Größe merken. Wenn man sich z.B. bei Disqus anmeldet, dann geht so ein kleines Popup auf und verschwindet gleich wieder. Wenn ich dann aber selbst ein neues Fenster (auch private) öffne, dann ist das eingangs auch so mickrig und muss immer erst vergrößert werden....

Meinst Du die horizonatle (optional zuschaltbare) Menüleiste? Im Aufklappmenü wenn man auf das Vivaldi V klickt geht das mit dem "Durchblättern" nämlich. Deshalb wusste ich erst gar nicht was Du meinst. Beim neuen Firefox klappt das mit dem Durchblättern nämlich beim öffnen des Hamburger Menüs auch nicht habe ich gerade gemerkt. Vielleicht ein neuer Designtrend :rolleyes:

Um ehrlich zu sein, ich bin mir nicht sicher, da ich Firefox auch nur als Zweit- oder Drittbrowser nutze. Mir ist es jetzt in der 57er aufgefallen, vorher war da ja ohnehin ein ganz merkwürdiges Menü.

Als Tipp für Vivaldi: Entweder das horizonale Menü nicht nutzen oder (geht auch parallel) einfach mit F2 die quick settings aufrufen. Aber klar, wenn man an horizontale Menüs gewöhnt ist, dann ist das schon nervig. Wird das bei denen im Forum besprochen? Ansonsten könnte ich da mal ein Thema erstellen.

Hab das Programm sowohl unter Windows als auch Linux nun dauerhaft deinstalliert. Zwar gibt es einige coole Funktionen, die man mit FF57 nicht mehr durch Extensions nachrüsten kann. Letztlich fühlt sich mir die Oberfläche aber zu hakelig an und das Scrollen unter Windows mit Nvidia und Chromium ist einfach grässlich.

Hab eben mal wieder einen prüfenden Blick auf den Zustand des Farbmanagements geworfen, und bin positiv überrascht. Es scheint als ob die v1.13.1008.32 bzw. Chrome 62.0.3202.97 alles richtig macht. Nicht nur bei Bildern sondern auch CSS-Farben und dass alles was kein Profil hat wie sRGB behandelt werden soll.

Du meinst mittlere Maustaste und dann Scrollen? Funktioniert hier auch mit gedrückt halten. Also Mausrad drücken wechselt in Scrollmodus, Mausbewegung scrollt, Mausrad wieder loslassen verlässt Scrollmodus wieder. Getestet unter Windows und Linux.

In der Adresszeile auf das Schloss-Icon klicken. Da hat es die Domain-Einstellungen.

Was mir da noch fehlt sind Videos an/aus schalten. Auf tvspielfilm.de kommen z.B. auf den Detailseiten immer Trailer auf Autoplay und Audio voll aufgedreht...

Aber gefühlt sind das irgendwie 5 Mausklicks zu viel um eine einzige Ausnahme für eine Domain einzutragen. Ich hatte ja mal überlegt, Vivaldi zum Hauptbrowser zu machen. Was mich aber etwas stört ist die Menüleiste. Da kann man nicht wie bei anderen die einzelnen Menüpunkte "durchblättern", sondern muss auf jeden Menüpunkt einzeln klicken.

Hmm, inzwischen kann mal wohl davon ausgehen, dass dies kein Bug, sondern so gewollt ist!? :(

Ich gehöre zu denen die gerne diverse Programme nebenher fahren, in dem Zusammenhang viel mir schon seit längerem Vivaldi negativ auf, welches ein beenden meist Forcierte (wegen unten geschilderten Verhalt).

Problem:
Vivaldi belegt über gebührlich Grafikspeicher

Lösung: vivaldi://flags
GPU rasterization = disabled
vivaldi://flags in die Adresszeile des Browsers kopieren als wollte man eine Webseite öffnen.
Performance technisch habe dadurch noch kein Einschnitt bemerkt, wohl aber bei der Speicherbelegung.

Hintergrund:
Nach etwas längerer Ziehung sind/waren bei mir GFX Speicherbelegungen von 1,6GB die Norm bis hin 2,8GB! Und bei nur 4GB Speicher wird es dann heut zu tage ganz schnell eng wenn etwa noch etwas halbwegs modernes an Spiel konsumiert werden möchte. Verstehe von daher auch nicht warum die Devs nicht selbst darauf kommen das es eine gute Idee sein könnte, solches erstens generell zu begrenzen und zweitens auch mal wieder freizugeben (Tabs die während der Ziehung mal offen waren aber längst wieder im Hintergrund, können z.b. auch wieder raus aus dem Cache usw.)?

Sprichst du von shared DRAM oder dediziertem VRAM? :| Angaben zum System wären hilfreich, da ich die Problematik nicht habe. aktuell 688 MB VRAM insgesamt und 1,1 GB DRAM von Vivaldi belegt. 17 offene Tabs. System siehst du wenn du drauf klickst. :D Auch am Notebook konnte ich das noch nicht sehen (Intel HD4000).

Und wenn mir genauer gesagt wo ich das fix einsehen kann (sehe/finde das gerade nicht), wie viele Tabs und so man gerade offen? Kann ich das noch Nachreichen, in jeden sind es aber deutlich mehr als 17. :wink:

Im Normalen Desktopbetrieb und mit anderen Browsern (Firefox bzw. SeaMonkey oder Opera 12.18), habe da eine Auslastung von 300 bis 400+ MB (zumeist aber unterhalb 500MB verbleibend, so jetzt aus dem Kopf, vielleicht waren es da auch um 600+ MB, in jeden bisher immer unproblematisch fürs daddeln nebenher). :smile:

Und ich meine die insgesamt GPU RAM Belegung die das Tool: Sapphire Trixx (http://www.sapphiretech.com/catapage_tech.asp?cataid=291&lang=deu) über sein Sidebar Gadget AddOn Anzeigt.
Allerdings nutze noch eine deutlich ältere Version (wie gerade bemerkte), ver.4.8.6! Was die neuere da dann anzeigt und ob sie überhaupt noch ein solches Gadget(?), weiß ich jetzt nicht und hier für mein Thema auch gerade egal (denkt?)! :smile:
Ich gehe davon aus das es rein die physikalische Belegung meint(?), da es auch in Spielen bzw. z.b. dem Simulator Assetto Corsa (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=assetto+corsa) sehr direkt nachzuvollziehen. Wenn dieses Tool bereits ne Auslastung von 1,4GB+ anzeigte (oder gar deutlicher darüber), hat man dort auf großen Strecken wie die Nordschleife, etwa jede Minute einen derben Stocker (Im AS eigenen Frameverlauf auch sehr gut als heftige Spikes zu erkennen), schloß man Vivaldi war alles in Ordnung und wie es soll (keinerlei derlei heftigen Spikes mehr)!

Mit Vivaldi ging die diesbezüglich Speicherauslastung zuvor sprunghaft und merklich mit der Zeit immer höher, zumeist beginnend gleich bei um 680+MB, nach einer Weile Querbeet Surfen waren es dann schon oft 1,4GB+ und immer so weiter. Es wurde mit jeden neuen Tab, oder wenn ein altes angeklickt und somit aktiv (etwa nach einem Neusstart des Browsers), effektiv mehr Speicher an Vivaldi gebunden. Freigegeben wurde in der Regel nur wieder etwas wenn ein Tab endgültig geschlossen!

Und seit dem es so gemacht wie in meinem Post zuvor geschildert, hält sich der Speicherverbrauch im üblichen Rahmen und wenn Vivaldi dann rennt nur bei um 520+ MB die Trixx als belegt Anzeigt (damit kann man Leben)! Von daher dachte ich mir vielleicht als Tipp für andere mit dem selben Problem oder als Hinweis das Vivaldi diesbezüglich ein ungeahntes Problem sein könnte? Nicht jeder hat so Mäusekinos am laufen wo man solches ablesen kann und da muss man auch erst mal drauf kommen.

Ich hatte eben mal den Renderer auf der GPU erzwungen und habe diverse Tabs geöffnet. Der RAM-Bedarf stieg dabei stetig an. Beim schließen ging dieser zurück. Alles wie es soll.
A) unbelegter Speicher ist totes Kapital
B) was du siehst is zugewiesener, nicht verbrauchter Speicher
C) schließe mal Tabs und schau ob der Verbrauch sinkt
D) wo sollen die Daten auch sonst verweilen, wenn du 50 Tabs oder so offen hast - swapfile wäre zu langsam
E) geht es beim DRAM 1:1 hoch wenn du den GPU-Renderer deaktivierst?

Im Kern ist Vivaldi Chrome, also sollte dieser das gleiche Verhalten zeigen. Kannst du das bestätigen? Ist Firefox sparsamer? Langsamer?

Es kann gerne soviel Speicher belegt werden wie es möchte, solange dieser nicht von einer anderen Anwendung ebenfalls benötigt! Ab der Kannte sollte es dann eigentlich so sein das Programme sich arrangieren oder so verhalten das ab diesem Punkt, nur noch das am einkreisen was Aktuell wirklich benötigt (so war früher noch die Etikette)!

Zu B)
Sei es wie es sei letztendlich(?), was zählt ist/war für mich die Sekundäre und unmittelbar spürbare Auswirkung davon (siehe das Beispiel mit Assetto Corsa).

Zu C)
Ja sicher sinkt dann der Verbrauch (das schrieb aber bereits, zugegeben meine Schreibe ist mitunter schwer verständlich :redface: ), aber oftmals möchte ich das Tab nicht schließen sondern lasse es offen bzw. es landet bis auf weiteres im Hintergrund. Und dieser Speicher bleibt dann leider offenbar weiterhin belegt oder reserviert, auch wenn es dort schon seit Stunden (hier sollte je nach dem, dann sortiert werden und ältere Tabs aus dem cache wieder geworfen! Spätestens wenn andere Programme ebenfalls den Speicher benötigen).

Zu D)
Vivaldi ist in diesem Punkt sogar zunächst und initial eigentlich recht effizient bzw. Intelligenter als etwa noch Opera 12.18, da es bei einem Browser-Neustart nur das letzte Tab Aktualisiert und die anderen erst wenn man auf sie klickt (davor belegen sie erst mal kein/kaum Speicher)!

Zu E)
Ich würde sagen ja, allerdings ist mir das lieber bzw. wenn denn das gewollt, denn System RAM hat man zumeist wesentlich mehr über (ggf. auch für übermäßig Cache Puffer Spielchen), als dessen auf der Grafikkarte!

Anhang:
Opera 12.18 ist an der Kante um einiges Sparsamer (war ja einer der Vorteile der Presto Engine), nutzt aber ohnehin nicht den GPU Speicher (könnte man forcen aber dann ist die Schrift irgendwie verschwommen), diese Version ist aber bekanntlich eh seit längerem schon EOL (von daher auch dieser Thread seinen Namen :wink: ).

Und mit anderen Browser-Erfahrungen kann und möchte jetzt nicht ins Detail Hausieren oder gar austesten gehen. Da zum einen für mich und vielleicht auch andere, dass Problem ja jetzt erst einmal gelöst. Zum anderen, da ihnen eine für mich essenzielle Funktion fehlt: Tabs Stapeln zu können! Von daher könnte mit ihnen gar nicht vergleichbar oder wie gewohnt arbeiten!

Und aber ja, Chrome könnte dann vermutlich ähnliche Probleme bei mir und oder anderen bereiten können(?), falls nicht wäre es allenfalls aus technischer Betrachtung noch ein Ansatzpunkt. Für mich aber allein schon deshalb keinerlei alternative, da unmittelbar von Google (und Tabs Stapeln kann das Ding glaube ich ohnehin auch nicht?)!

Ich habe etwa 60-80 Tabs offen, von denen ich mal rund 20 angeklickt hab, damit sie nicht im Hintergrund schlummern.
Laut GPU-Z liegt die Memory Usage (Dedicated) bei meiner RX580 8GB bei rund 700 MB - Browser wurde erst gestartet und wie gesagt nicht alle Tabs geöffnet.

Ich habe mal ein Video davon gemacht wo die Tools aufgenommen, noch bevor Vivaldi hier frisch gestartet und dann mal reih um wahllos durch meine Tabs geklickt.

Zwischenzeitlich scheint sich da was getan zu haben(?), seit es mal umgestellt hatte sind schon zwei, drei oder gar mehr Versionen her! :wink: Es ist zusehen das Speicher auch mal wieder und anscheint recht zeitnahe freigegeben wird! Zumindest bei diesen spontan Test, der insofern aber vielleicht nicht ganz repräsentativ(?), weil er nicht normales oder eigentliches Surfverhalten widerspiegelt (wo man die Seiten länger als nur 1 oder 2 Sekunden im Vordergrund hält und oder wenn der Browser bereits seit Stunden am laufen)!

Allerdings auch, dass trotzdem gen Ende wieder in Bereiche verbleibend (1 bis 1,2GB+), die durchaus schnell mal wieder relevant werden oder sein können, wenn man nebenher was daddeln mag (auf GPUs mit nur 4GB oder weniger).

Von daher verbleibe bei der Lösung: GPU rasterization = disabled :smile:

Auf dem Laptop muss Vivaldi jetzt wohl Firefox Quantum weichen. Unter Vivaldi habe ich öfter Performanceprobleme (Ruckeln beim Scrollen oder Öffnen von Tabs), und das bei höherer Systemlast, festzustellen am fast permanent laufenden und nervenden Lüfter.
Unter Firefox ist das alles besser. Schade.

Ja, Vivaldi ist momentan 100% Desktop Browser. Ich nutze ihn zwar auch am Laptop, aber da springt dann auch bei mir schnell der Lüfter an. Auch wenn nur einzelne Tabs mit simplen Seiten geöffnet sind.

Ist halt die ganz grundsätzliche Technologieentscheidung für das Interface, plus die Tatsache, daß das Team immer noch mit neuen Features und Bugfixes/Regressionfixes beschäftigt ist.

Langfristig ist (zumindest laut meinem letzten Stand) ja auch noch eine Version für die mobilen Betriebssysteme geplant, spätestens dann wird auch auf Energieverbrauch geachtet. Dürfte aber dieses Jahrzehnt nichts mehr werden, bin ja schon froh wenn dieses Jahr der Mailclient kommt :smile:

Was helfen könnte wären neue/mehr/bessere Energiesparfunktionen bei Chromium, aber auch da kommt dann immer noch das Vivaldi Interface oben drauf.

Private search engine
Want to keep information in your private windows even more private? Why not use a dedicated search engine that respects your privacy? In today’s snapshot we provide the ability to set a different default search engine for private windows. Perhaps you want to make Ecosia your default for normal windows, to help save the planet and have DuckDuckGo default whenever you open up a private window? Give it a go and see what works best for you!

Changes on macOS
Today we do not have a build to offer you on macOS. In the past, when we have left a platform out for a snapshot, we have had some speculation as to why. So here is why!

When you log into a website that requires a password, you can ask Vivaldi to remember the password for that website. Even though the password is only stored locally on the user’s machine, we must still encrypt the password data before writing it to disk. We also encrypt certain cookie data before storing it on disk. To encrypt data on macOS, Vivaldi uses a unique encryption key that is generated by the macOS Keychain App. The key only exists on the users local machine and is currently stored under an entry called “Chrome Safe Storage”. Using the keychain entry named after Chrome has in the past caused annoying issues with pop-ups requesting keychain access, especially when users have Chrome installed as well. In order to get rid of those annoying pop-ups, we are moving to our own “Vivaldi Safe Storage” keychain entry with it’s own unique password. That means that we need to migrate data that we’ve already encrypted with the old Chrome encryption key.

Migrations of such critical data have to be handled with care, and in our internal builds we are aware of at least one issue that could result in people losing passwords during the process. So we decided not to offer you the build today, but rather when we are a little bit more confident in the end result. In the long run, however, this change will be a good thing and resolve some of the issues a number of you have been having with using an inappropriately named keychain entry.

Bei mir verschwindet die Maus wenn ich etwas herunter lade und dann den Ordner wähle. Sobald ich einmal in dem Fenster zum navigieren geklickt habe ist die Weg. Kommt aber sofort wieder wenn ich auf "Speichern" klicke. Hat das noch jemand? :|

Auch wenn nicht alles perfekt ist, und die Wartezeit für manche Features etwas lange sein mag, so bin ich doch froh, daß es Vivaldi gibt.

Beim Design habe ich das Gefühl, daß viele da jetzt in eine ähnliche Richtung gehen, Mausgesten sind für mich eigentlich essenziell und Sync funktioniert bei mir super.

Abgesehen davon finde ich die Einstellung des Teams (zumindest wie sie sich darstellen) in den allermeisten Punkten mehr als sympathisch :up:

seit dem Update auf 1.15 habe ich ein kleines Problem.
Die Lesezeichen - Icons werden anscheinend erst geladen wenn ich den ersten Link in einem Ordner angeklickt habe. Zuvor ist alles "weiß" danach sind fast alle Icons wieder sichtbar.

Kann man das abstellen? Wo finde ich die Icons damit ich sie löschen kann. Vielleicht erstellt Vivaldi sie dann ja selbst und verarbeitet sie richtig. Oder ist es Absicht, dass die Icons erst nach dem öffnen eines Links in einem Ordner geladen werden?

Ich würd' mir 'ne bessere Cookie-Verwaltung wünschen. Man kann noch nicht mal mehrere Zeilen in der Liste auswählen. Hab aktuell >3000 Cookies, und eigentlich nur die Option alle zu löschen. Interessant wäre alle außer denen auf einer Whitelist zu löschen.

In Firefox kann man z.B. wenigstens nach "zuletzt verwendet" sortieren und dann alle alten löschen.

Auch find ich es komisch, dass die Browser alle die Einzelbestätigung rausgeschmissen haben. Die Chronik hatten sie sich Zeit genommen in V. zu pimpen - benutze ich quasi nie…

Es ist davon auszugehen dass aufgrund der Strategie ihre Webtechnologien-Oberfläche auf Chromium draufzuklatschen die Performance nie ganz so gut wie bei Chrome werden wird.

Androidversion ist AFAIK geplant, dürfte aber noch ein paar Jahre dauern ^^
Ja, Android Version ist in der Mache. Laut eigener Aussage hat von Tetzchner auch schon eine funktionsfähige Version davon auf seinem Mobiltelefon. Trotzdem glaube ich nicht an eine öffentliche Version (auch nicht als Vorscha) dieses Jahr, und eigentlich auch nicht im nächsten.

Sehr sehr langfristig, und gerade auf Mobile Geräte bezogen, kann ich mir sogar vorstellen, daß die "draufklatsch" Strategie sogar Vorteile bringen könnte, da die ganzen Webtechnologien ja immer mehr zum Standard werden, und das irgendwann auch auswirken auf die Hardware haben dürfte (bei ARM ist es ja eigentlich schon so). Außerdem habe ich irgendwo gelesen, daß Vivaldi mehr und mehr selbst bei der Entwicklung von Chromium aktiv wird, da also auch Einfluß drauf nehmen.

Echte Performancenachteile spüre ich persönlich nicht, merke es hauptsächlich an der höheren CPU Auslastung und der damit einhergehenden Wärme, Geräusch und Akkuentleerung am Laptop.

Davon abgesehen ist es doch etwas ruhiger geworden in der Entwicklung, wirklich neue Features kamen mit den letzten Snapshots nicht mehr. Das hat man ja auch hier im Thread gemerkt, daß (auch von meiner Seite) nicht mehr jeder Snapshot einen extra Beitrag erhalten hat.

Ich sehe das aber einfach mal als positives Zeichen, daß man sich jetzt um größere und grundlegende Features und Probleme kümmert.

Seit einer Weile passiert es mir z.B., daß, wenn mehrere Vivaldi Fenster geöffnet sind, daß Schließen von einem Fenster die anderen auch schließt. Sehr ärgerlich, aber die Lösung ist wohl mitlerweile gefunden, war nicht einfach, und wird bald in die Snapshots integriert.

M3 wird von Tetzchner auch schon seit Monaten benutzt und dennoch ist eine Veröffentlichung nicht in Sicht, auch nicht in Snapshotform.

Ich denke man sollte den Aufwand nicht unterschätzen, den sie benötigen um eine neue Chromiumversion zu integrieren. Das sind wenn man die Snapshots betrachtet immer 1 bis 2 Wochen, wenn ein großer Rewrite nötig ist auch mal 4 oder mehr. Und auch jetzt sind sie wieder von Chromium 65 auf 67 gesprungen, was bis die nächste Stable kommt auch schon wieder auf 68 sein wird.

Wie gesagt, ich glaube nicht wirklich an einen Snapshot vor 2020. Allerdings dürfte die Priorität etwas höher sein als bei M3. Das wird ja hauptsächlich gebaut, weil es das bei Opera mal gab. Viele die ich kenne nutzen nicht mal ein E-Mail Programm wie Outlook/Thunderbird etc., sondern nutzen ihr jeweiliges Webportal.

Rein wirtschaftlich dürfte ein Vivaldi Browser für mobile Geräte deutlich mehr Erfolg versprechen als eine E-Mail Funktion die nur von einem Teil der Desktop Nutzer genutzt wird.

Andererseits ist ja das tolle an Vivaldi, daß sie sich nicht unbedingt auf den Massenmarkt konzentrieren :smile:

Hmm, seit dem letzten Snapshot und dem damit einhergehenden Update auf Chromium 67 habe ich teilweise beim Laden von Seiten (bspw. auf der 3DCenter Forum Startseite) eine gewisse Phase, in der die Seite unansprechbar/unresponsive ist. Also Scrollen und auch das Anklicken von Links funktioniert nicht. Hab das schon als Bug gemeldet, mich würd's aber interessieren ob das sonst noch jemand hat.

Are you a regular panel user but find they take up too much space? Well then… I reckon you are about to love them even more. We have now added two new options under “Tools → Settings → Panel → Panel Options”. The “Floating Panel” option allows the panels to overlay the open website, rather than causing a page resize as you open and close it. In addition, you can enable “Auto-close Floating panel”. With this switched on, the panel will close itself as you move your mouse away from the panel area.

Gefällt mir sehr gut die Idee, und wertet die ganze Idee der WebPanels für mich erheblich auf.

Natürlich gab es keine festen Termine, aber zu Mail und mobiler Vivaldi Version gab es dabei folgende Aussagen:

Vermutlich. Bei Chromium ist ja momentan auch viel los, Site Isolation, neues Renderbackend...

Dazu kommt wahrscheinlich die Sommerpause ^^

Bin mal gespannt wie lange sie das durchhalten, Brave hat ja jüngst schon das Handtuch geworfen und setzen in Zukunft auf das Chrome-UI. Ist für Vivaldi natürlich keine Option, da man damit die Alleinstellungsmerkmale verlieren würde, aber der Aufwand mit Chromium Schritt zu halten scheint nach wie vor riesig zu sein.

Wenn man nämlich im privaten Fenster bei Verwendung des Vivaldi-»Light«-Themas auf den Seiten von Heise Online (https://www.heise.de/) surft, kann man den aktiven Tab von den nicht aktiven so gut wie nicht unterscheiden.

Der Versionssprung ist wohl dem auf dem neuen Einrichtungsschirm nun vorhandenen Sync zu verdanken. Mail gibt's dann wohl erst mit Version 3.0, es sei denn Sync wird in 1.16 Stable schon richtig integriert.

Ich meine es hieß mal, daß volle Versionsnummernsprünge nur bei Einführung von echten neuen Features stattfinden würden.

Im Falle von 2.0 also Sync, dessen Einrichtung ja jetzt auch beim ersten Browserstart angeboten wird. Interessant, daß es kein 1.16 Stable gab, aber da werden die Sommerpause sowie die Chromiumarbeiten dazsichen gekommen sein.

The first part of our version number is primarily for stable users and allows them to see when significant updates and changes happen. For snapshot users, where updates happen constantly it is less relevant and can be a distraction. The latter two numbers express the builds as we understand them from a development perspective. The big number represents a day and the final part shows changes during the course of that day or based on a build from that day.

Quick Command Parameters

In addition to adding new features, we love to improve those that are already present. Recently we added support for UI Zoom in Quick Commands but the way it worked was a little clunky. We have now added support for Quick Command parameters and started to use them for both Page and UI Zoom. These let you quickly change the zoom levels to any value you like (you are no longer limited to set increments). For example, to zoom this page to 150%, fire up QC (F2/⌘E) and type “Page Zoom 150” (“Page Zoom 100” or “Page Zoom Reset” will bring it back).

This is a really powerful way of controlling the browser and we will look at other ways of expanding Quick Command along these lines in the future. If you have any good ideas, let us know in the comments below.

Alliance for Open Media, Video 1 (AV1) support

AV1 is the latest and greatest of the open video formats. It is designed as a successor to VP9, that competes directly with the proprietary (and costly) HEVC/H.265 codec. It is intended to be able to be paired with Opus (audio) in a WebM container for HTML5 web video.

In addition to being a state of the art video format, the really exciting things about AV1 are that it is royalty free and backed by a number of industry giants (Amazon, AMD, Apple, Arm, Cisco, Facebook, Google, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Mozilla, Netflix, Nvidia, etc.), who together form the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia). This means it has every chance of becoming ubiquitous.

Widespread adoption would greatly ease the issues that some of you have faced with imperfect proprietary media (e.g. H.264/AAC) support and bring us a step closer to videos working out of the box for every Vivaldi user.

If you want to try AV1 out, go to youtube.com/testtube and enable AV1. Once enabled, certain videos will now play in AV1. You can check if AV1 is being used by right clicking on the video, selecting “Stats for nerds” and looking at the codecs line for “av01…”.
